What is Crescent Chicken Casserole
If you enjoy pot pies, you’re sure to be keen on my crescent roll chicken casserole.
Seasoned chicken and shredded sharp cheddar cheese are stuffed inside layers of buttery crescent rolls and topped with a white gravy.
As the casserole cooks, a bit of the gravy is absorbed into the crescent dough making for a supremely fluffy crust.
Ingredients for Crescent Roll Casserole
This recipe only requires 5 ingredients, plus salt and pepper. Using pre-cooked chicken allows this melt come together in a little over half an hour.
I prefer to cook frozen chicken breasts in my Instant Pot for bulk cooking through the week. I season it well with paprika, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and poultry seasoning.
You’ll also need shredded cheddar cheese, milk, Pillsbury crescent dough sheets, and cream of chicken soup.
I prefer to use organic Pacific brand cream of chicken soup because it does not contain questionable ingredients or preservatives.
What Type of Crescent Rolls to Use in this Casserole
You may have seen recipes for crescent roll chicken bundles and this recipe is very similar.
Over the years, I found it much simpler to make this crescent roll chicken recipe using Pillsbury crescent roll sheet dough instead of individually filling crescent rolls with chicken and cheese and wrapping them up.
Using the crescent roll sheets makes for less mess and allows you to fill it with more protein and cheese. However, if your store only has the precut rolls (that happens at mine often), then you can simply use a rolling pin to roll it out a little bit and get the seams back together. I do this in the video.

Fruitful In The Kitchen Tip
Every homemaker encounters days, or even seasons, where cooking is the last chore on her mind.
Perhaps you’re in a rut because you’re burnt out of eating the same meals all of the time. Maybe the thought of dirtying up the kitchen and having to clean it again exhausts you.
It’s during those seasons that we must ask Christ to renew our strength and persevere as saints (Ephesians 6:18), providing the meal for our loved ones even though we really don’t want to.
When you do, the Lord will honor your obedience and steadfastness!
