Today I am excited to be part of the Kiwi Mummy Bloggers 12 Days of Christmas series. I’m joining 11 fabulous bloggers in sharing Christmas posts, and I’m last on the list! You can find out more about this series, and links to the other posts, at the end of this post.
So, what did I choose to write about for my post? Well, since it’s Christmas I decided to move away from my usual planning and productivity posts and do something I haven’t done for ages – a recipe!
I love the tradition of Christmas Hot Chocolates by the fire – but when Christmas is in the summertime that’s not so appropriate. So I gathered up the usual ingredients and created a Christmas Chocolate Smoothie.
Usually, my smoothies contain healthy ingredients like yoghurt, fruit and green leaves, but this is all decadence!
To make the Christmas Chocolate Smoothie I’ve blended milk, ice-cream, banana, cocoa powder and peppermint candy canes. Before adding the candy canes to the blender I put the canes in a zip-lock bag and smashed them with a rolling pin. I then placed most of the broken candy cane in the blender and left a small amount to sprinkle on top of the smoothie. I usually make it quite powdery but this time the pieces were a bit bigger.
- 1 cup of milk
- 1 cup of vanilla ice-cream
- 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder
- 1 banana
- 2 candy canes
- Put the candy canes in a zip-lock bag and smash until it is broken into crumb size pieces.
- Put the milk, ice-cream, cocoa powder and banana into a blender.
- Sprinkle most of the broken candy cane into the blender, leaving about one tablespoon for decoration.
- Blend until the drink is completely mixed and smooth.
- Pour into glasses.
- Decorate with whipped cream and the remaining broken candy cane.
It tastes quite refreshing on a warm summer’s evening! You might also like my Gingerbread Smoothie which I created last Christmas.
